Repair, realign or replace
Dents and scrapes are repaired where the metal can be properly reshaped, and doors and guards are realigned so they sit flush. Panels beyond economical repair are replaced.
Refinishing along the side
Side damage rarely stops neatly at a panel edge, so repaired and replacement panels are colour matched and blended into the panels either side.
Refit and function check

Door and side panel repair considerations
Doors are full of equipment
Behind a door skin are wiring and, on many vehicles, side-impact sensors; door mirrors often carry blind-spot and surround-view cameras. Where a repair disturbs these, the requirement to check and recalibrate is identified at assessment and coordinated as part of the repair. See ADAS calibration.
Fit tells you about the structure
A door that won't close properly, or a gap along a guard, can point to damage behind the panel. Where that is found on a drivable vehicle, the structural work is scoped together with the door repair. See structural and internal repairs.
Colour across a long surface
The side of a car is the longest continuous run of colour on the vehicle, so mismatches show. That is why repaired panels are blended into their neighbours rather than painted to a hard edge, particularly for metallic and pearl colours.

Common questions about door and side panel repairs
Can a dented car door be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Most door dents and scrapes can be repaired and refinished. A door is replaced when the skin is torn or badly stretched, when the door frame itself is bent, or when repair wouldn’t restore how it fits and closes. Your estimate sets out the recommended approach.
Why doesn't my door close properly after a knock?
An impact can shift a door on its hinges, bend the door frame or move the panel it latches to. Our assessment checks alignment, hinges and latches along with the visible damage, and the door is realigned as part of the repair so it opens and closes as it should.
Will my door seals, window and locks work properly after the repair?
Yes. Once the panel work is done, handles, trims, seals, glass and mirrors are refitted and the door’s operation is checked, including how it opens, closes and seals, before the vehicle goes through our quality assurance check.
Will the colour match along the whole side of the car?
Yes. Repaired and replacement panels are colour matched to your vehicle and blended into the panels either side, so the colour reads as continuous along the side rather than stopping at a panel edge.
How long do door and side panel repairs take?
Most minor repairs are completed within days. Repairs across several panels, replacement doors waiting on parts, or work that requires sensor recalibration take longer. We confirm an estimated timeframe once your vehicle has been assessed.
